DESIGN SERVICES


Zephyr Audio not only offers off-the-shelf solutions but also provides all the skills required to design complex audio products or subsystems.

Customers can buy point skills from us or we can offer a one-stop shop covering the whole design process.

For high volume designs, we can develop to prototype level, including testing and approvals and then assist in putting the design into production in Asia. For lower volume products we can offer a complete service supplying finished products thanks to our reliable network of partner factories.


PROJECT PHASES


CONCEPTS

We can help you to frame the problem, propose solutions, brainstorm for ideas, find ICs that could help or simply act as a feasibility check reviewing work that has already been done in-house.

SPECIFICATIONS

The next step for a project is usually to take the requirement and decompose it to create detailed design and test specifications. Often this is accompanied by creating a plan for the rest of the project.

ELECTRONIC DESIGN AND PCB LAYOUT

We are experienced in detailed electronic circuit design. We cover all aspects of digital and analog circuits as well as RF design. According to the project we sometimes do a mixture of in-house and subcontracted PCB layout and are familiar with the complex techniques required for routing composite systems, notably embedding RF. 

After completion of the prototyping, which can either be done in Europe or in Asia, we debug and test the PCBs.

EMBEDDED SOFTWARE

Software for the electronics is often 50% or more of the design work in a project. We write code in a variety of languages according to the project needs (C, C++, Linux,...).

PILOT RUN

To test the product further, a Pilot run normally follows the prototyping stage. In the Pilot run, a small quantity of units (Perhaps 25 or 50) are field trialed in a beta test. The Pilot run is also an opportunity to assess the manufacturability of the design, and the usability of the documentation and test benches


PRODUCTION

Following the pilot run there will likely be changes to the firmware, and possibly the circuit design, as the unit develops into a stable, final product. We handle the actual production of complete products for some customers, but others prefer to produce the circuitry in house, or use other assembly subcontractors. Our technical documentation is sufficiently detailed for our customers to have the electronics produced by a third party subcontractor and we could of course support the selected ODM.
