ZEPHYR AUDIO, in collaboration with HiWave, has developed an amazing wireless speaker platform combining HiWave ultra-efficient AS1003 amplifier capable of delivering 13W burst power into 8 Ohms and SMSC wireless chip Kleer KLR3012.

At typical listening levels a single 1.2V AA (NiMH) battery can power the amplifier and its wireless receiver for over 40 hours (the equivalent of over 600 music tracks), with the capability of delivering loud volume levels when required (25W peak power).

Based on a higher power mono version of HiWave’s Audium amplifier chip, the MonadA1 platform permits designers to rapidly integrate HiWave’s and Kleer suite of technologies into wireless loudspeaker products, creating new market opportunities for long-lasting, battery-powered, cost effective Hi-Fi quality speakers.

The main circuit board comprises the Audium mono amplifier chip together with its passive components, together with a battery and connectors to speakers. The circuit board has a connector that allows a wireless audio daughter board featuring SMSC’s Kleer wireless audio processor, chosen for it’s low power consumption (Note: Bluetooth, AirPlay and Wifi Direct technologies can also be supported but are not recommended as they would drastically reduce battery-life).

A demonstration kit is available. It comprises a pair of amplifier boards, each with a wireless daughter board and a transmitter module that plugs into the 30-pin connector on an iPad, iPod or iPhone (or USB module). It enables a design engineer to evaluate the point-to-multipoint system by playing media directly from any of these devices. Volume levels are synchronised between the two amplifiers and can be controlled from the host, or from either amplifier board.

Designed to fit even on a very compact PCB, the eWireless2go platform permits designers to rapidly integrate wireless technologies into headphones, creating new market opportunities for long-lasting, battery-powered, cost effective Hi-Fi quality headphones.

The main circuit board comprises SMSC’s Kleer wireless audio processor, chosen for it’s low power consumption (Note: Bluetooth, AirPlay technologies can also be supported but are not recommended as they would drastically reduce battery-life).

Sample headphones are available upon request. Associated with an iPad/iPhone or USB transmitter module, it enables a design engineer to evaluate the point-to-multipoint system by playing media directly from any of these devices.

The eWireless2go platform could also easily be integrated in a compact casing (pictured on the right) creating a wireless external module one could connect to the standard 3,5mm jack input of his headphones so to easily convert them into wireless headphones.
